Do and Donut…There is No Try

Sunday I joined my sister’s family for church and a visit to the farmer’s market in Beacon. I tasted some really good chocolate goat milk, which is totally a real thing. While chocolate goat milk is a pretty good surprise, the biggest surprise of the day was making a surprise connection with friends of my sister’s family. It meant an impromptu visit to a donut shop with delicious treats and a surprise reward for my road tripping adventures.

Eyes Glazed Over Yummy Donuts

My donut featured a caramel glaze with peanut butter chips and chocolate drizzle! It appears they added some rainbow sprinkles as decoration 👀.

Glazed Over Donuts, located in Beacon as well, reminds me of Duck Donuts, which originated in Duck, NC. I believe both are excellent donut shops, so props to both of these donut-making companies! As for my experience with Glazed Over on the Sunday I visited, my donut filled my taste buds with delight! Caramel glazed the surface of the donut, chocolate stripes drizzled this tiger of a donut and peanut butter chips topped this delectable treat! There are so many choices at Glazed Over, it will blow you away.

The decor rocked as well 🎸. Check it out in the gallery below ⬇️.

Homer Simpson would be proud.

MMM…donuts!

Reward for leap of faith

No doubt this adventure into road trip blogging has been a leap of faith. I jumped on this opportunity as a way to build up my creative skills, go on adventures and earn money in the process. Fortunately, I received an additional treat from my visit to Glazed Over. A friend of my sister gave me some great tips on travel blogging, and leads on blog writing for pay.

In that moment, it felt like I received a reward for taking the leap of faith to start this road trip blog. It was like the universe saying “You’re on the right track. Here’s a gift and keep on going!”

Master Yoda’s Advice

Part of the way life can be absurd is that it can be hard to make decisions. We ask ourselves, “Do we do this, or do we not do this?” And sometimes we say, “Oh I’ll try it.” Yoda, the wise Jedi master from Star Wars, utters a famous and wise phrase to Luke Skywalker as Luke learns the ways of the Jedi from Yoda: “Do or do not. There is no try.”

When we say we’ll “try” something, it’s as if there’s a twinge of doubt, like it may not work, but we’ll do it anyway. Yoda instructs that if you want to succeed at a task, do it with no doubts, believing you will accomplish it. Either do it with 100% belief or don’t do it at all. And that point of 100% belief is daunting. It is a leap of faith; a point of no return.

It is at that point of dispelling all disbelief that people take action and make a positive difference in the world. I believe there’s a lot more I can do to help human beings to flourish. And I believe these adventures will help me to focus and delineate my thoughts to answer this question: What shall I do with my life, and how shall I then live? Because we only have one life to live. And it’s about time that we live it well.

In my next post, I begin my two-part post of exploring New York City! Part 1 will discuss how to pull off a one-day adventure to the Big Apple. Part 2 will discuss more in detail my own one-day adventure to the Big Apple.

Really enjoying your blog! It gets more interesting as you go more in-depth into each experience. Quite a mix of history, sightseeing, and fun interwoven with your thoughts on life in general.
